The trailer of the upcoming musical romantic comedy Seven and a Half Dates has officially been unveiled. Starring Karan Wahi and Surbhi Jyoti in the lead roles, the eight-episode series is scheduled to premiere on the YouTube channel of Novice Records on May 24, 2026.
Seven and a Half Dates revolves around the story of two contrasting personalities navigating modern-day romance in the digital era. The narrative follows Aadar, a punctual and obsessive app creator, and Aaina, a carefree late-night radio jockey, whose lives unexpectedly intersect because of a dating app error. What starts as awkward interactions gradually develops into a deeper emotional connection through late-night conversations, confrontations, misunderstandings, and self-discovery.
According to the makers, the series explores themes of intimacy, emotional vulnerability, trust, and imperfections in relationships. The show also incorporates eight original songs spread across its eight episodes, giving the storytelling a musical dimension.
Speaking about the project, Karan Wahi, who essays the role of Aadar, shared that the experience felt deeply personal because of his association with the creators. He said, “What truly drew me to this show were my friends, who are also the makers of it. Working with friends is always special, but being directed by them was a completely new and exciting experience. More than anything, it was the writing that connected with me as it doesn’t feel like I’m playing a character, it feels like I’m living a real person who speaks and feels the way people do today. I’ve always loved the rom-com space, so getting to explore it again was genuinely fun. What also makes Seven and a Half Dates unique is that it has eight songs across eight episodes, which gives the storytelling a very fresh and different feel. Overall, it was a complete win-win experience for me.”
Presented by Luck Films and Novice Records, the series marks the writing and directorial debut of Shaalien Malhotra, who has previously been known for his work as an actor. The project is jointly directed by Shaalien Malhotra and Suyyash Rai. With its blend of romance, music, and contemporary relationship dynamics, Seven and a Half Dates is set to stream digitally later this month.
