‘Shrinking’ Season 4 Officially Adds Karen Gillan!!

Shrinking has always had one of those casts that feels slightly unfair. It’s a smash hit comedy series (okay it’s a bit dramatic too) but it’s got one of the finest actors of its generation in one lead role, with literally Indiana Jones alongside him. It would be a great get for a limited series, never mind a recurring one, but it’s still growing as it heads into its next outing. Season 4 is already set to take the story in a new direction, and now it’s adding another very recognizable face.

Karen Gillan is trading in her kilt and battle gear straight from the set of Henry Cavill‘s Highlander, joining up for Season 4 in a recurring role, according to Variety. Details about her character are currently being kept under wraps, but Gillan will appear alongside the show’s returning cast after the Apple TV series was renewed for a fourth season earlier this year, ahead of the Season 3 premiere.

Season 4 is set to include a time jump and a brand new storyling, which is an intriguing prospect in itself, and the show has already shown it can bring in new characters without losing the messiness that makes the show work so well. It began with Jimmy, a grieving therapist, making increasingly questionable choices with his patients and loved ones but then evolved into tangible things like, you know, grief, recovery, friendship, “bettering yourself”, all that nonsense.

Who Stars in ‘Shrinking’?

The cast of Shrinking includes Jason Segel (Forgetting Sarah Marshall) as Jimmy Laird, Harrison Ford (Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark) as Paul Rhoades, Christa Miller (Scrubs) as Liz, Jessica Williams (The Incredible Jessica James) as Gaby, Luke Tennie (Nickel Boys) as Sean, Michael Urie (Ugly Betty) as Brian, Lukita Maxwell(Generation) as Alice, and Ted McGinley (Married… with Children) as Derek. Gillan joins the series after Cobie Smulders (How I Met Your Mother), another MCU alum, joined up.

Shrinking was created by Bill Lawrence, Segel, and Brett Goldstein. Lawrence executive produces through Doozer Productions alongside Jeff Ingold and Liza Katzer. Neil Goldman, James Ponsoldt, Randall Winston, Rachna Fruchbom, Ashley Nicole Black, and Bill Posley also executive produce. Warner Bros. Television produces the series, with Lawrence and Goldstein both under overall deals at the studio.
