‘House of the Dragon’ Season 3: Final Trailer Promises a Bloody New Chapter!! Check It Out!!

For a series based on Fire and Blood, there probably hasn’t been quite enough of either of those things in the first two seasons — especially based on what came before it. But now, House of the Dragon is finally threatening to live up to the book upon which it is based, and there’s going to be tears shed too, that we can guarantee.

HBO has released the explosive official trailer for House of the Dragon Season 3, which debuts Sunday, June 21 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on HBO and will also be available to stream on HBO Max. The eight-episode season will release weekly, leading up to the finale on August 9. Season 3 is bringing the Dance of the Dragons into the full bloody conflict we’ve heard about for so, so long, and the war between Rhaenyra Targaryen and the Greens is finally spilling out of the council chambers and into the skies. And the bloodshed has already been teased in a huge way.

Showrunner and co-creator Ryan Condal previously revealed that Season 3 opens with the legendary Battle of the Gullet, calling the premiere “arguably the craziest episode of television ever made, with Emma D’Arcy who plays Rhaenyra also teasing:

“The series this time around starts at 60 miles an hour. We’re finally watching a war that has been building for two seasons… I’m so impressed by Ryan and the team. There was a thrill in what was on the page this season because the show’s gotten bigger. It felt to me that the bar had been raised.”

Who’s Involved in ‘House of the Dragon’?

The cast for Season 3 includes Matt Smith (Doctor Who) as Daemon Targaryen, Olivia Cooke (Ready Player One) as Alicent Hightower, Steve Toussaint (Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time) as Corlys Velaryon, Rhys Ifans (Notting Hill) as Otto Hightower, Fabien Frankel (Last Christmas) as Criston Cole, Ewan Mitchell (Saltburn) as Aemond Targaryen, Tom Glynn-Carney (Dunkirk) as Aegon II Targaryen, and many, many more.

Season 3 is co-created by Condal and Martin, with Condal serving as showrunner and executive producer. Martin also executive produces alongside Sara Hess, Melissa Bernstein, Kevin de la Noy, Vince Gerardis, David Hancock, and Philippa Goslett.
