‘And Justice For All’: Netflix Developing Series Adaption of Classic 1979 Courtroom Drama!!

Netflix has had plenty of shows explode in popularity and earn multiple seasons worth of renewals, but few are as popular as The Lincoln Lawyer. The show is adapted from a series of novels from acclaimed crime writer Michael Connelly, who is also famous for his work writing the books that inspired Titus Welliver’s Bosch series. Matthew McConaughey once starred in a film adaptation of The Lincoln Lawyer, but most fans of the source material would agree that Netflix’s TV version starring Manuel Garcia-Rulfo is a much more faithful retelling. While Netflix did renew The Lincoln Lawyer for Season 5, the streamer has confirmed that it will be the final season of the show. This leaves Netflix without a new flagship legal thriller, but the streamer may have just found one perfect for a multiple-season arc.

News broke this afternoon that Netflix is officially developing a remake of the 1979 Al Pacino film, And Justice For All. Jeremy Miller and Dan Cohn are in the early stages of writing the project, and it’s being described as a “gritty look inside an idealistic attorney’s flawed life as he struggles with a corrupted legal system until he finally snaps.” It’s unclear at this time who is going to star in the project or when it will begin filming or be released, but Netflix has a history of working fast when it comes to new TV shows, so it’s not out of the realm of possibility for it to be released as soon as next year. Al Pacino is reportedly not involved with the remake in any capacity, but The Lincoln Lawyer EP Ross Fineman is said to be producing the show.

What Is ‘The Lincoln Lawyer’ About?

The official synopsis for The Lincoln Lawyer TV show, which also stars Neve Campbell, reads as follows:

“Hotshot Los Angeles defense attorney Mickey Haller runs his practice from the back seat of his Lincoln, taking on high-stakes criminal cases while navigating personal challenges, courtroom battles, and buried secrets. As each investigation unfolds, Haller’s sharp instincts and relentless drive put justice, and his future, on the line constantly.”

There was no reason given when Netflix announced it was canceling The Lincoln Lawyer after five seasons. While not yet confirmed, it’s expected that The Lincoln Lawyer Season 5 will premiere before the end of next year, and with And Justice for All also coming down the pipe, fans of legal thrillers have plenty of content to keep them satisfied.
