‘A Forgotten Kill’: Justin Hartley is Developing Isabella Maldonado Crime Novel for ABC!!

When someone says the name Justin Hartley, one of the first shows that certainly comes to mind is This Is Us. Dan Fogelman wrote the hit romantic epic, which also stars Sterling K. Brown, who he later reunited with on Paradise, the new Hulu sci-fi series now in production on its third and final season. However, in the last few years, Hartley has become best known for his role as Colter Shaw in Tracker, the hit CBS procedural that premiered back in 2024. Since its arrival in February, just over two years ago, CBS has released three full seasons of Tracker, with a fourth confirmed to be on the way later this year. Like all great TV stars, though, Hartley isn’t boxing himself in with one role, and he’s soon to star in another show that could rival his Tracker stardom.

News broke yesterday afternoon that Tracker’s Justin Hartley is jumping from CBS to ABC for a new procedural series, A Forgotten Kill, which is based on the 2024 novel of the same name by Isabella Maldonado. Hartley is confirmed to be executive-producing the show via his Change Up Productions banner, which also falls under his overall deal with 20th Century Television. Diana Son, famous for her work on Line of Fire and Butterfly, is writing and producing the project, with Ken Olin directing and producing. It’s unclear at this time when A Forgotten Kill will be released, or if Hartley will also star in the show or just produce. More information will likely be made available later this year when the series is closer to the start of production.

What Is ‘A Forgotten Kill’ About?

If the Forgotten Kill TV show is anything like Maldonado’s novel, it will follow an ex-Army Ranger, Dani Vega, an FBI agent whose specialty is breaking codes and detecting patterns. Dani teams up with NYPD detective Mark Flint, but it doesn’t take the two long to realize that while their clashing styles can cause problems between the two, it’s also their greatest strength. However, things take a turn when a dark family secret from her past catches up with Dani, bringing back to light a tragedy that she was sure she had left behind.
