Just last month, we confirmed that TV’s biggest post-apocalyptic sci-fi series would return this summer, but with a twist. While fans eagerly anticipate the arrival, another fantastic update has made the rounds, and this time, it involves one of the show’s spin-offs. It’s been sixteen years since The Walking Dead first aired, and it has since expanded with multiple follow-ups, one of which is also making a comeback this summer, about a year after it was last broadcast.
Centered on the unlikely duo, Maggie (Lauren Cohan) and Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan), The Walking Dead: Dead City will return with Season 3 on July 26, 2026. To give fans an insight into what’s to come, AMC has unveiled a 36-second teaser showing “Margaret” and Negan partnering up in New York City to survive. Also appearing in the teaser is Lucifer and Criminal Minds: Evolution star Aimee Garcia, who was added to the cast last September. Garcia portrays Renata, “a disarmingly charming leader with a natural ability to win people over with her optimism and convivial personality.”
As teased by the synopsis, The Walking Dead: Dead City Season 3 sees Maggie and Negan finally put aside their differences to build the first thriving community in Manhattan since the apocalypse. Still, when chaos in the city begins to rise, they are forced to question: have they learned from their old wounds, or will their dark past spell doom for the entire city? Dead City, created by Eli Jorné, is the fifth series in the entire Walking Dead franchise. In addition to Cohan and Morgan, who reprise their roles from the original series, Gaius Charles, Željko Ivanek, Lisa Emery, Logan Kim, and Keir Gilchrist also star, with Jimmi Simpson joining in Season 3.
Another ‘Walking Dead’ Entry Arrives This Summer
Ares Interactive and AMC Networks announced last month that The Walking Dead: Aftermath, a new free-to-play roguelite set in the franchise’s fictional world, would debut this summer. A date wasn’t revealed at the time, but the game is slated to launch on iOS and Android, with additional platforms to be announced. Developed by Ares‘ Swift Games studio, The Walking Dead: Aftermath blends fast-paced roguelite combat with survival mechanics and base-building elements. Players will take control of fan-favorite characters, including Rick Grimes, Daryl Dixon, and Michonne, as they battle walker hordes, hostile enemies, and boss encounters. Furthermore, campaign missions will revisit familiar locations from the series, such as Hershel’s Farm, Woodbury, and Alexandria.
