Marvel fans have had a lot to be excited about this year, both on the TV and movie side of things. The MCU has put out a few major TV shows in Wonder Man (co-starring Yahya Abdul Mateen II and Ben Kingsley) and Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 (starring Charlie Cox), but things are soon to pick up this week with another big release. Marvel will drop the first episode of X-Men ‘97 Season 2, the critically acclaimed animated series that’s been on hiatus since 2024. Before the second season of X-Men ‘97 is even over, Marvel fans will also be rushing to the theaters to see the next Spider-Man movie, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, on July 31. All these events will lead into Avengers: Doomsday later this year on December 18.
Since the launch of the Multiverse Saga, it’s become much more difficult to keep track of the sheer number of projects in development at Marvel Studios at any given time. One feature film that was announced all the way back in 2019 that still has no plans to be released is the Blade reboot movie starring Mahershala Ali. After several director and writer changes, the movie was removed from the release schedule entirely last year, and it’s unclear at this time if it will ever see the light of day. Another Blade project fans were excited about was the video game in the works at Arkane, but a new report today indicates that the project is in jeopardy. News broke that XBOX is soon to announce a massive wave of layoffs, which could lead to both studio closings and game cancellations, and Arkane — along with its Blade game — are in jeopardy of being shut down.
Another AAA Marvel Game Is Coming Soon
While the Blade game may be in for some bad news soon, there is another Marvel game coming in just a few months that has everyone excited. Insomniac Games, the same studio behind the Spider-Man trilogy, is releasing a new Wolverine game on September 16. The game was announced years ago, and the first official gameplay trailer came out just a few weeks ago, confirming that the game was in line to release this year. Pre-orders for Marvel’s Wolverine are available now.
