The Dark Lord is rising once more. With the last 12 months bringing us more news from the Wizarding World than perhaps the ten years prior to that, we’ve been treated to first looks at a new generation of Harry Potter, in both television and audio formats. But now, one of the most iconic villains in literature has a new voice, and it’s one of the most daring villains in MCU history that’s behind it.
Daniel Brühl has officially been cast as Voldemort in the German edition of Harry Potter: The Full-Cast Audiobooks. The new productions will adapt all seven of J.K. Rowling’s original novels, beginning with Harry Potter und der Stein der Weisen on November 10, 2026. The remaining six books will then arrive monthly.
It is a separate production from Audible’s English-language full-cast editions — which wrapped up back in May with the release of Deathly Hallows — with more than 150 voice actors set to appear across the complete series. The audiobooks have already logged more than 2,000 hours of recording and will feature Dolby Atmos sound design, original music, a bespoke score, and real-world sound effects.
Who Appears in the German Harry Potter Audiobooks?
The wider cast includes Abak Safaei-Rad as narrator, Nina Hoss (Tár) as Professor McGonagall, Armin Rohde (Run Lola Run) as Rubeus Hagrid, Falilou Seck as Albus Dumbledore, and Robert Stadlober as Severus Snape. Matthias Matschke voices Professor Quirrell, while Felix von Manteuffel, one of the original narrators of the German audiobooks, returns as Garrick Ollivander.
The Golden Trio will be portrayed by two different sets of actors over the seven books. For the first three instalments, Niklas Ulonska voices Harry Potter, Ayla Uluçam plays Hermione Granger, and Anton Schnermann takes on Ron Weasley. They are joined by Moritz Frickel as young Draco Malfoy, Eliot Neudeck as young Neville Longbottom, and Ella Reithmeier as young Ginny Weasley.
As for who will take on the mantle of He Who Must Not Be Named in the upcoming HBO adaptation, well, that’s all a big secret at the moment, with A-list names like Paul Bettany and Cillian Murphy distancing themselves from it. However, Voldemort makes his first appearance in The Philosopher’s Stone, and so we’ll find out soon enough.
Harry Potter und der Stein der Weisen arrives on Audible on November 10, 2026.
