A new movie is set to reimagine the Wild West as you’ve never seen it before, with a melding of American history and ancient history. Prehistoric beasts roam the wild frontier in Dinosaurs of the Wild West, a new project from the creatives behind Primitive War. You can get in on the action with the series’ new Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign, which begins today.

While Primitive War saw dinosaurs being unnaturally thrown into the chaos of the Vietnam War, the new project will imagine a world where humans and dinosaurs have lived side-by-side for generations, and are working together to tame the American West. The new trailer features massive herbivores, like sauropods, ceratopsians, and stegosaurs, being used as pack animals in massive convoys across the unforgiving desert; an adventurous scout soaring through the air astride a hairy pterosaur; and a cowboy and his ferocious Tyrannosaurus mount. Narration from Cobra Kai‘s Jesse Kove warns that all is not well in the West, and that both man and beast may soon face extinction of a decidedly unnatural variety. What Perks Are Available for ‘Dinosaurs of the Wild West’s Kickstarter?

In addition to helping Dinosaurs of the Wild West become a reality, Kickstarter backers can have a hand in making the series; at the highest levels, you can get credited as associate producers, have a VIP on-set experience, or even design a dinosaur for the movie. Backers can also get a first-edition trading card set and statue, and get behind-the-scenes access to the making of the series. Last week, Collider also exclusively revealed an early look at an exclusive action figure of a raptor and rider from Creative Beast Studios.

Dinosaurs of the Wild West is directed by Primitive War helmer Luke Sparke. It is produced by Carmel Imrie, Carly Sparke, and Luke Sparke, and executive produced by Geoff Imrie, Eric Weick, Colin Hurdle, Kelly Clifford, and Luke Sparke. The world of Dinosaurs of the Wild West comes from the imagination of artist Shaun Keenan, who says the series “combines two of my favorite things.”
