‘Fast Forever’: Final ‘Fast & Furious’ Installment Gets Set Update From Vin Diesel!! Check It Out!!

The Fast & Furious franchise is one of the most successful in modern cinema history. In total, the franchise has earned just shy of $7.5 billion in total revenue across 21 years and 11 movies, making for an average of $680 million per film. This is all the more impressive considering the opening title in the franchise, 2001’s The Fast and the Furious, made just $206 million worldwide, which dropped as low as $157 million for the third installment. However, come 2015’s Furious 7 — and largely due to the sad death of star Paul Walker during production — a Fast & Furious movie was earning over $1.5 billion in global revenue.

In 2028, 27 years after the first pulse-racing installment crashed onto global screens, the final feature film in the franchise is set to debut. Titled Fast Forever, this final Fast & Furious installment is reportedly in pre-production in Los Angeles right now — Collider has learned filming has not yet begun on the movie. Fan favorites such as Jason Statham and Dwayne Johnson as Deckard Shaw and Luke Hobbs are set to return, alongside the franchise’s star, Vin Diesel. Louis Leterrier will direct, and Christina Hodson and Michael Lesslie have penned the script, although not without controversy.

We might be just short of two years away from the 11th and final Fast & Furious movie, but that hasn’t stopped a recent tease from Dom Toretto himself via his social media from ramping up fan excitement. Taking to his Instagram, Diesel took fans behind the scenes of production on Fast Forever, saying, “I’m on set. People are grinding. Incredible crews are working.”

He continued, “I just wanted to take a second to say thank you. You guys are the best audience in the world, best fans in the world. You’ve been patient to the industry, you’ve been patient to the studio, and you’ve been patient with me. Over the past three and a half years, we’ve been grinding to try to make the most amazing finale.” Diesel then concluded, “But through it all, one thing I know is, I can feel your support, and that means the world to me. So, let me get back to this filming, and just know that I hope to make you all proud.”

‘Fast & Furious’ Is Getting the TV Treatment

During an NBCUniversal upfront presentation back in May, fans of the Fast & Furious franchise had their biggest fears put to rest as it was announced that not one but four TV projects from the motorhead universe are in the works at Peacock. Admittedly, there is little known about any of the series, except that Mike Daniels will pen the pilot for the first series. For now, all eyes are on the 2028 movie, and then attention can cut a corner and hit the gas down the highway to a Peacock spin-off.
