It’s safe to say Avengers: Doomsday is one of the most highly anticipated movies of the year, if not the decade. Now, as fans count down the final six months for the movie, the film’s runtime has officially been revealed ahead of ticket sales, which are set to launch next week. The MCU is officially returning to theaters this month, with Spider-Man: Brand New Day expected to set the stage for the franchise’s next massive team-up on July 31.
2026 is shaping up to be a banner year for Marvel. The studio kicked off the year with a bang when Wonder Man arrived on January 27. The series recently earned Yahya Abdul Mateen II an Emmy nomination for his role as Simon Williams, a struggling Hollywood actor with a big secret who wants nothing more than to star in a superhero movie. Marvel has been holding down the small screen for the first half of the year with smash hit releases like Daredevil: Born Again Season 2, The Punisher: One Last Kill, and the currently airing second season of X-Men ’97.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is solidly over 2 hours, now just weeks ahead of its release. The next Tom Holland-led movie following the webslinger clocks in at 144 minutes. Ahead of ticket sales on July 20, Avengers: Doomsday is currently clocking in at 165 minutes — or 2 hours and 45 minutes, according to THR — making it the second-longest movie in the MCU. Endgame still holds the crown for the longest film in the franchise at 181 minutes, or 3 hours and 1 minute.
What Else Do We Know About ‘Avengers: Doomsday’?
Doomsday is expected to feature an absolutely massive cast, as revealed across a 5-hour broadcast last year. Robert Downey Jr. will return, though this time he’ll be playing the bad guy instead of the MCU‘s first Avenger. He’ll be joined by the “New Avengers” with Florence Pugh, Lewis Pullman, Wyatt Russell, David Harbour, Sebastian Stan, and Hannah John-Kamen set to reprise their roles from Thunderbolts*. Notably, several stars from 20th Century Fox‘s X-Men franchise will also be in the movie, including Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Rebecca Romijn, James Marsters, and Alan Cumming.
Most major plot details are still under wraps at this time, but the multiversal adventure is set to follow fan-favorite superhero teams from three very different universes as they come together to stop their most deadly foe yet. Avengers: Doomsday will be released in theaters on December 18. Tickets go on sale beginning July 20.
