‘Spider-Man’ Producer Confirms Tom Holland’s Future Beyond ‘Brand New Day’!!

There’s one more stop on the Marvel Cinematic Universe journey to Doomsday, as Tom Holland will reprise his role as Peter Parker in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Projected to gross between $180 million and $190 million in its three-day domestic debut, Brand New Day will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of its Spidey predecessors and hit the billion-dollar mark at the global box office. Holland is joined in the film by a host of eye-catching names, including Zendaya as MJ, Jacob Batalon as Ned, Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/The Hulk, Michael Mando as Scorpion, Marvin Jones III as Tombstone, and more.

Jon Bernthal also joins the Brand New Day team as his Punisher character makes his MCU feature film debut, following Marvel’s Special Presentation, The Punisher: One Last Kill, which bridged the narrative gap. There’s no doubt that Brand New Day is one of the biggest movies of the summer, and fans are hoping that this latest step in Holland‘s journey as Peter Parker will mark the dawn of a new era, as the character transitions from adolescence to adulthood.

However, recent comments threw the future into doubt, as director Destin Daniel Cretton advised audiences that they “should go to this (movie) as if it’s the last Spider-Man.” Thankfully, even newer comments from producer Amy Pascal suggest that much more could be in the works. In a new interview, Pascal said, “Ever since we’ve been making Spider-Man movies with Marvel and the MCU, it has opened up a wealth of opportunity for us.” She continued:

“Because in the comics, he does interact with all these characters. So that’s been a wonderful opportunity. I never want to be so presumptuous as to say anything is going to be a trilogy or more than one. That would be my dream, of course, but you never know. Because the truth is that the rule that we set for ourselves is to take it one movie at a time. It’s important to us that you don’t have to see one movie to see the other movie.”

Tom Holland is in Another Major Summer Release

Holland, Bernthal, and Zendaya are sure to prove a magic-making trio in Brand New Day, but they’re also all lining up together in July’s other major release. The film in question is Christopher Nolan‘s ambitious historical epic The Odyssey. Last week, the first reactions to the movie came out, with most who were lucky enough to go to the premiere gushing about how mind-blowing the historical is. The Odyssey opens in global theaters this weekend.
