Din Djarin and Grogu have never been especially good at staying out of trouble. After carrying their adventures from Disney+ to the big screen, the two are about to face their biggest challenge yet: trying not to step on LEGO. The Mandalorian and Grogu may just be winding down its theatrical adventure but, as anyone who saw that blockbuster knows, the adventures of this pair are just starting and given what they get up to, anything is possible. Including becoming toys and Baby Yoda’s very first meeting, but in LEGO form. Cute. In case you forgot, Mando was meant to eliminate a dangerous target that actually turned out to be a chaos goblin with an unstoppable appetite.

Rather than telling a story limited to one particular point in the series, the new special will draw from across Din and Grogu’s complete Disney+ journey, so it’s sort of like a “best of” adventure, but in LEGO form. However, if that doesn’t include the Anzellans we will fully storm Lucasfilm. Bad babies.

What Other Star Wars LEGO Specials Have Been Released?

The project follows previous LEGO Star Wars specials including The LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special, Terrifying Tales, Summer Vacation, and Rebuild the Galaxy. Like those releases, the new adventure is expected to take a playful approach to established characters and events while remaining accessible to fans of all ages.

But the best thing about the LEGO specials is how unserious they are. And that format should suit Mando and Grogu perfectly, if you think about their hijinks in bottled up form. Grogu’s appetite, unpredictable Force abilities, and habit of touching absolutely everything already provide plenty of comedy in live action, and Din Djarin is so relentlessly stoic and straight-faced that seeing the nonsense turned up to eleventy-stupid should make for a joyous time.

Before its streaming debut, Lucasfilm will host an exclusive early screening of LEGO Star Wars: The Mandalorian during D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Experience on August 15. LEGO Star Wars: The Mandalorian premieres September 2 on Disney+.
