‘The X Files’: Gillian Anderson Officially Returns to Role For LEGO!!

The bricks are out there for Gillian Anderson, who’s returned to her iconic role of Dana Scully from The X-Files for a special occasion. No, it’s not Ryan Coogler‘s hotly anticipated reboot of the cult classic science fiction TV series (although that isn’t out of the question). Instead, she’s back for a very special collectible.

Anderson stars as Scully in a new promotional spot for Lego’s The X-Files building set. In the ad, Scully finds a mysterious unmarked box outside her hotel room. Putting on a pair of latex gloves (“I missed that sound,” she says, as she snaps them on), she gets to work, finding that the box contains 1478 Lego bricks and a detailed set of instructions. Snapping it together (which is no mean feat with gloves on), she soon assembles a two-part diorama; below, the X-Files offices, complete with Mulder and Scully minifigures (“I don’t remember you being so small,” she remarks to the mini-Mulder), scientific equipment, and the iconic “I Want to Believe” UFO poster; above, it’s a woodland scene, with an alien spacecraft hovering overhead via a translucent support beam. As soon as it’s complete, it’s mysteriously abducted, but you can get your own at Lego.com starting on August 1 for Lego Insiders, and August 4 for everyone else; it will retail for $199.99 USD.

What Comes With the Lego ‘The X-Files’ Set?

The X-Files Lego set comes with eight mini-figures: Fox Mulder and Dana Scully, their boss Walter Skinner, treacherous agent Alex Krycek, the sinister Cigarette-Smoking Man, Mulder’s informant Mr. X, a grey alien, and the series’ most iconic creature, the gruesome Flukeman. The set itself is filled with nods to the series, including Mulder’s messy desk, his alien memorabilia, and a bee. Plus, if you order between August 1 and 10, you can get a free exclusive miniature set of Scully’s lab, complete with a minifigure of Scully in a lab coat that’s available nowhere else.

It’s an exciting time for X-Files fans. Coogler‘s new pilot for Hulu, starring Himesh Patel and Danielle Deadwyler as a pair of FBI agents assigned to re-open the bureau’s long-closed paranormal investigation unit, has wrapped production, and both Anderson and David Duchovny have indicated their willingness to return to duty.

Lego’s The X-Files building set will be available for Lego Insiders on August 1, and on August 4 for everyone.
