Supergirl is back in the spotlight following the release of a newly unveiled deleted scene by DC Studios. Many believe the missing sequence should have stayed in the final movie because it gives one of the film’s biggest emotional moments a much stronger impact.
The deleted footage was made available as part of Supergirl’s digital bonus features. It shows more of Ruthye Marye Knoll‘s life before tragedy strikes, giving viewers the background they felt was missing from the theatrical version.

In the extended scene, Ruthye is seen spending peaceful time with her parents and brother before the ruthless Krem of the Yellow Hills attacks. It also explains why her father and the valuable sword matter to the story. Viewers get to know the family before they are killed. As a result, Krem’s attack feels more emotional.
Many DCU fans feel the added footage elevates one of the movie’s weakest moments and should have been retained. Reacting to the clip shared by Fandango, X user @JuanEditzs wrote, “deadass why wasn’t this in the film lmao.”

Directed by Craig Gillespie, Supergirl features Milly Alcock in the role of Kara Zor-El. It was released in theaters on June 26, 2026. Later, it was made available on digital streaming sites like Fandango at Home, Apple TV, and Prime Video on July 28, along with an extra 90 minutes of deleted scenes and other special features.
The film tells the story of Kara leaving Earth when she turns 23 years old, along with her puppy Krypto, to overcome the pain of losing her home planet Krypton. During her journey, she meets Ruthye, whose father is murdered by Krem. Kara joins the young girl who is on a mission to search for the space pirate.
