‘The Mummy 4’: Oded Fehr & Kevin J. O’Connor Officially Confirmed to Return!!

The classic horror-action-adventure franchise The Mummy will return from the dead in 2027. Original stars Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz are set to reprise their roles in the series for a new film from Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, the film-making collective known as Radio Silence. And those aren’t the only two who are set to return to the franchise when it hits theaters on October 15, 2027.

1999’s The Mummy starred Fraser as adventurer Rick O’Connell and Weisz as Cairo librarian Evelyn Carnahan; the unlikely duo found themselves partners as they raced for a lost Egyptian treasure, only to end up facing the resurrected priest and sorcerer Imhotep (Arnold Vosloo), who wanted to put the soul of his long-lost love into Evelyn’s unwilling body. Over the course of the film, the two fell in love, and had married and had a son by the events of 2001’s The Mummy Returns, when they faced the return of Imhotep and the legendary Scorpion King (Dwayne Johnson). Fraser then returned, with Maria Bello replacing Weisz, in The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, but it will apparently be ignored by the new film.

As reported by Deadline, two familiar faces will be joining Weisz and Fraser in the new movie. Oded Fehr and Kevin J. O’Connor, both of whom starred in The Mummy, with Fehr also returning for The Mummy Returns, have been added to the cast of the new film. Fehr played Ardeth Bay, a member of an ancient order dedicated to preventing the return of long-buried evils from the desert sands. O’Connor, meanwhile, played Beni Gabor, a treacherous and cowardly treasure hunter; Beni was last seen trapped in an ancient tomb, about to be devoured by a swarm of flesh-eating scarab beetles, but this is a franchise based on crossing the lines between life and death, after all. Joining them is Numan Acar, a newcomer to the franchise; a veteran of the TV series Homeland and films like Spider-Man: Far From Home and Desert Warrior, Acar can currently be seen on Prime Video‘s Young Sherlock.

Who Else Will Star in ‘The Mummy 4’?

Also returning for the new film is John Hannah, who played Evelyn’s louche brother Jonathan in all three films of the franchise. He’ll be accompanied by newcomer Michael Johnston, who starred in this summer’s surprise horror hit Obsession. While Johnston‘s Mummy role is being kept (no pun intended) under wraps for now, he recently discussed the film with Collider‘s Perri Nemiroff, saying he’d “been thinking about how they’re gonna take the classic Mummy story and put that spin on it and kind of subvert expectations. So that’d be really exciting.

The Mummy 4 will be released in theaters on October 15, 2027.
