Well these are two immortals you wouldn’t want to mess with. The long awaited Highlander reboot is continuing work at a rapid pace and, while we’re still waiting for the first trailer for the movie, two of Henry Cavill‘s biggest co-stars have given audiences a pretty impressive glimpse behind the scenes of the film. In fact, we’re a little bit intimidated.

Oscar winner Russell Crowe looks absolutely transformed as filming continues, looking more than ready to step back into another legendary mentor role. New photos shared by Drew McIntyre show the WWE superstar posing alongside Crowe in a gym, with both actors flexing their physiques in matching black tank tops. McIntyre is an absolutely huge dude, so for Crowe to look like he’s holding his own in his sixties is a remarkable piece of work.

The pair are currently filming The Last Druid together in Spain, but both also star in Chad Stahelski‘s upcoming Highlander reboot. Fans were quick to praise the duo’s physical transformations, with one calling them “my favorite wrestler and one of my favorite actors working out together,” while another simply celebrated the pair “getting those gains.”

Alongside Cavill, Crowe and McIntyre, Dave Bautista (Guardians of the Galaxy) stars as Connor’s immortal nemesis The Kurgan, while the cast also includes Karen Gillan (Guardians of the Galaxy), Marisa Abela (Back to Black), Jeremy Irons (The Lion King), Djimon Hounsou (A Quiet Place: Day One), and martial arts star Max Zhang (Ip Man 3).

Why Is Henry Cavill Making ‘Highlander’?

In 2024, Cavill explained that the reboot offers far more than just sword fights. Cavill has also praised Stahelski’s vision for the reboot, saying that his approach goes far beyond simply remaking the 1986 original:

“If you think you’ve seen me do sword work before, you haven’t seen anything yet. Having a character who has lived over 500 years, played by me, is a lot of fun. He is the last person in the world who wanted to be in this position, and so you get to see the breadth of a life over that time, and that’s rather exciting. We’re going deep into the meaning of these characters and their trials and tribulations. If there was ever a reason for me to get excited, it’s that.”

Production was previously delayed after Cavill suffered an injury during pre-production training, but filming is now firmly underway ahead of the film’s planned 2027 release.
