According to an announcement from Paramount+, Martin’s spin-off show, The Varnell Hill Show, will make its television debut on September 1, 2026, globally. The report also stated that Tommy Davidson is coming back to reprise his role as Varnell Hill. The announcement has piqued significant interest among the fans. The show’s cast has been sharing stills from the upcoming series.
Kym Whitley who plays a key role in the spin-off shared some snippets from the show. “Y’all not ready for this one! ?#TheVarnellHillShow, premiering September 1st on #ParamountPlus #KymWhitley,” she wrote on Instagram alongside some stills from the upcoming comedy.
The original Martin, which starred Martin Lawrence as a radio DJ, ran for five years, from 1992 to 1997. During this period, fans fell in love with the character, which resulted in the series clinching some prestigious awards. Martin won the People’s Choice Award in the Favorite TV New Comedy Series category. The show also won four NAACP Image Awards, which cemented its popularity among its audience. Now, the spin-off, The Varnell Hill Show, is returning to the television screens after a gap of 34 years.

However, others, they would need a subscription to catch Davidson in his iconic avatar. Additionally, Paramount also noted that the show will drop with only a couple of episodes for its September 1, 2026 debut. From then on, the show will drop one new episode every Tuesday through October 13.
The plot of the show revolves around Varnell Hill, who is trying desperately to cope with the changing entertainment industry. Trying to stay relevant, Hill comes face-to-face with significant challenges, making him realize that holding together a television empire requires significant skill and effort.
