The last few years have been jam-packed full of movies for Adam Sandler, who has carved out a name for himself as one of the kings of comedy. Last year, Sandler returned to his signature role as Happy Gilmore in Happy Gilmore 2, the legacy sequel that earned millions of views from fans around the world after being added to Netflix. One year prior to the premiere of Happy Gilmore 2, Sandler headlined the forgotten Netflix sci-fi movie, Spaceman, which is eerily similar to Project Hail Mary, the 2026 Ryan Gosling-starring sci-fi movie that grossed over $600 million at the global box office. Sandler has been starring in iconic movies so long it’s tough to nail down exactly what his most famous role is, but Lenny Feder certainly has a strong case for being one of his beloved.
Sandler first played Lenny Feder in the memorable 2010 slapstick comedy, Grown Ups, which is currently streaming on Peacock. Despite a bloated $80 million budget for a family-friendly comedy, the film grossed over $270 million at the global box office, well enough to warrant the sequel, Grown Ups 2, which returned just a few years later in 2013. With a similar budget, Grown Ups 2 grossed $246 million at the box office, less than the original but still enough to be considered a profit. Back in May, it was announced that Netflix is making a sequel to Grown Ups 2, but updates about the project have been scarce, until today. Netflix posted the first official behind-the-scenes images from the set of Grown Ups 3, confirming that production is now underway on the new comedy film.
Who Stars in ‘Grown Ups 3’?
Grown Ups 3 is returning all members of the original gang, including Sandler as Lenny Feder, Kevin James as Eric Lamonsoff, Chris Rock as Kurt McKenzie, David Spade as Marcus Higgins, and Rob Schneider as Rob Hilliard. Salma Hayek Pinault, Maria Bello, and Maya Rudolph are also returning in the film. Additional cast members include Julie Bowen, Deon Cole, and Bailee Madison. Tim Herlihy wrote the script for Grown Ups 3 along with Adam Sandler, who also produces. Kyle Newacheck, who recently directed Happy Gilmore 2 and episodes of Stuart Fails to Save the Universe, is in the director’s chair for Grown Ups 3.
