‘The Final Problem’ Teaser Confirms Release Date for New Mystery Series Starring a Former ‘Sherlock Holmes’ Actor!! Check It Out!!

Wherever you look, there is a story being told about the world’s most famous detective. Whether the events directly tie to the character or focus on a person close to him, someone comes with another angle to explore. The last several years have brought numerous Sherlock Holmes-related stories. Just this year, Prime Video made a TV show, Young Sherlock, exploring the character’s younger years. Meanwhile, CBS aired Watson, focusing on Sherlock’s friend, before the show was canceled earlier this year after two seasons. Netflix has not been left behind, releasing the third film in the Enola Holmes franchise a few weeks ago. The story adds Sherlock’s younger sister Enola (Millie Bobby Brown) to the mix.

And now, Netflix is back with a new murder mystery with a loose connection to Sherlock. This story is not about an offspring, coworker, or relative of the character; it’s about an actor. Meet Basil (Jose Coronado), a retired actor who once played Sherlock Holmes on the big screen. It’s spring of 1959, and Basil is one of the thirteen people stranded on an island near Mallorca during a bad storm. A mystery unfolds in their hotel when an English tourist is found dead. Everyone initially thinks the death is a suicide, but a closer look reveals something disturbing: a murder.

What happens next is a typical murder-mystery plot. No one can leave the island, so the killer is in their midst. No one can come to the island to help either. Who can solve the murder? Despite not being particularly interested in the task, Basil is the one most capable of unearthing the culprit after his turn as the famed on-screen detective. There are many suspects and motivations, with the story becoming increasingly complex. The series is titled The Final Problem, and it premieres on September 25.

Who Is Behind ‘The Final Problem?’

The four-episode mystery thriller weaves a tight narrative from Spanish author Arturo Pérez-Reverte‘s novel of the same name. Alberto Macías, Carlos Molinero, and Marisol Farré wrote the series, and Félix Viscarret directed it. Other cast members include María Valverde (Adela), Martiño Rivas (Foxá), Maribel Verdú (Auslander), Gonzalo de Castro (Fonseca), Cristina Kovani (Vicky), José Condessa (Toni), and Pepón Nieto (Seruya). The Final Problem promises a tense period drama full of secrets, suspense, and twists.
