Thanks to her unforgettable performance as Leslie Knope in all seven seasons of Parks and Recreation, Amy Poehler has become a household name who is also famous for voicing Joy in the Inside Out movies. Poehler is also the host of one of the most popular podcasts in the world right now, Good Hang with Amy Poehler, where she brings on popular guests like Tina Fey or Kathryn Hahn to tell life stories and chat about some of their favorite comedic influences. Poehler is an Emmy winner for her work on Saturday Night Live, and she’s also been nominated more than 25 times for her work on other projects like Lucy and Desi, Making It, Russian Doll, and more. However, she’s always on the hunt for her next big project, and she’s officially set to star in a new Peacock series coming to streaming soon.
Poehler will star in a leading role in Dig, a new comedy series launching as a binge on November 23 that reunites the Parks & Rec star with executive producer Michael Schur. Hugh Laurie, Geraldine Viswanathan, Antonia Thomas, and Fina Strazza will also star in leading roles in Dig, and guest stars include Kayvan Novak, Jon Pointing, and Bonita Friedericy. In addition to executive producing the new show, Schur also serves as the lead writer and showrunner on Dig along with J.J. Philbin. This afternoon, Peacock released the first batch of images from Dig before all 10 episodes premiere on November 23, and the official synopsis for the show reads as follows: “A team of dedicated archaeologists (and less-dedicated college students) spend their summer working on a dig site in Greece. Their discovery of a rare artifact sends them on the adventure of a lifetime.”
What’s Streaming on Peacock Right Now?
Setting the stage for the arrival of Dig later this year is Peacock’s most bingeable show of the year, The Five-Star Weekend, which stars Jennifer Garner and Gemma Chan. Peacock announced last week that the show has been renewed for Season 2. The biggest hit movie on Peacock at the time of writing is The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, starring Anya Taylor-Joy and Chris Pratt, which was also the first film of the year to reach $1 billion at the global box office.
