‘Bass X Machina’: New Teaser Teases Netflix’s New Western Sci-Fi Animated Series!! Check It Out!!

Get ready to saddle up, as Netflix rides into the Wild, Weird West with Bass X Machina. The new anime series is coming to the streaming service this fall, and turns a real chapter of American history into a rip-roaring fantastical adventure in a steampunk Wild West. It’s the latest anime series from the streamer, which has found great success in the genre. The series stars Brian Tyree Henry as Bass Reeves, a real-life historical figure who upheld the law as a U.S. Marshal in the Wild West and may have inspired the fictional Lone Ranger. He was recently the subject of Lawmen: Bass Reeves, a Taylor Sheridan-produced series that starred David Oyelowo as the title character; it was well-received by critics, but did not feature any cyborgs or steampunk automatons.

That’s not true of Bass X Machina; the new trailer shows off Henry‘s Reeves as a veteran drawn back into serving his country as a bounty hunter, and taming a west full of hovering trains, steam-powered robots, and murderous owlhoots. This Reeves has a cybernetic right arm and eye-popping quick-draw skills with the left; he’ll need every advantage he can to take on his foes and remain human. The series will premiere on November 3.

Bass X Machina also features the voice talents of Janelle Monáe (Glass Onion) as Glory, Tati Gabrielle (The Last of Us) as Dana, Cree Summer (Abbott Elementary) as Ahni, Chaske Spencer (Dark Winds) as Lighthorse, Currie Graham (Reacher) as Rivenbark, and Starletta DuPois (One Battle After Another) as Etta. In addition to starring, Henry also serves as an executive producer on the series, alongside LeSean Thomas, Jennifer Wiley-Moxley, and Chad Handley. It is a production of Studio Mir, the South Korean studio that animated series like The Legend of Korra, Voltron: Legendary Defender, X-Men ’97, and My Adventures With Superman.

What Other Anime Series Are in the Works at Netflix?

Animation has been one of Netflix‘s growth areas in recent years, with much of it in the anime genre. New seasons of the popular series Blue Eye Samurai and Cyberpunk: Edgerunners are in the works. The streamer is also capitalizing on its well-received live-action One Piece adaptation by producing The One Piece, a new animated adaptation of Eiichiro Oda‘s smash-hit manga series.

Bass X Machina will premiere on November 3, exclusively on Netflix.
