‘The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth’: David Fincher & Quentin Tarantino’s ‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood’ Sequel Gets a New Title!!

Quentin Tarantino‘s last movie, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, hit screens seven years ago. While the Pulp Fiction auteur continues to hem and haw over his tenth, and purportedly final, outing behind the camera, the next best thing is heading to select theaters, and then Netflix, later this year. Details about the sequel have been elusive, but Netflix has just announced that it’s sporting a new title.

Previously titled The Adventures of Cliff Booth, the film will follow the continuing tale of the title ex-stuntman (Brad Pitt). He first appeared in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, as the longtime friend, stunt double, and driver of Rick Dalton (Leonardo DiCaprio), a once-promising TV star who now finds himself slumming it as the bad guy of the week. Booth has found himself largely unemployable for a variety of reasons, including an on-set fight with Bruce Lee (Mike Moh) and the possible speargun murder of Cliff’s wife. However, he redeems himself in the film’s finale, gruesomely dispatching several murderous members of the Manson Family.

In a new short teaser, Netflix has announced that the film will now be titled The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth. The teaser also features a short clip of Booth driving set to the iconic Henry Mancini theme music from the 1958-1961 TV series Peter Gunn. It’s the first footage we’ve seen of the movie since Netflix released a teaser of the film during the Super Bowl earlier this year; pointedly, the clip was never officially released online. What we do know is that Tarantino has written the film’s script, but will not be directing it; it’s the first Tarantino-penned script to be filmed by another director since 1996’s From Dusk Till Dawn. Handling directorial duties is David Fincher, in what will be the first-ever collaboration between the two; it’s the latest Netflix film from Fincher, who previously helmed Mank and The Killer for the streamer. It will premiere in select IMAX theaters on November 25 for a two-week engagement before debuting on Netflix on December 23.

Who Stars in ‘The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth’?

In addition to Pitt, the film will also star Elizabeth Debicki, Scott Caan, Carla Gugino, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Peter Weller, Matt Groove, JB Tadena, Corey Fogelmanis, Karren Karagulian, and Holt McCallany. There’s no word if DiCaprio will drop by as Booth’s buddy Rick Dalton, but one Once Upon a Time in Hollywood cast member will return: Timothy Olyphant will reprise his role as Lancer star James Stacy.

The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth will be released in IMAX theaters on November 25, then premiere on Netflix on December 23.
