‘How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days’ Sequel in the Works!!

Noughties nostalgia has taken over the cinematic world. For the past few years, beloved titles from the 2000s have returned in theatrical form, usually to great financial success. Earlier in the year, a fashionably late sequel to The Devil Wears Prada catwalked onto global screens, with Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep, Stanley Tucci, and Emily Blunt all returning. Dubbed “a near-perfect blend of nostalgia and newness” in Taylor Gates‘ review for Collider, the movie might not have been as well received as its predecessor, but it ticked the nostalgic box for most fans.

At the box office, the legacy sequel was an enormous hit, becoming one of the big pre-summer hits of the year. The Devil Wears Prada 2 earned almost $700 million worldwide against a reported budget of $100 million, a total that took the franchise past the $1 billion mark, and held its #1 spot in the domestic charts for its first two weekends, before losing to the musical biopic Michael. In the shadow of The Devil Wears Prada 2 and others like it’s success, Paramount have finally given the green light for a long-awaited sequel to a Noughties rom-com cult classic.

Originally released in 2003, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days quickly came to define the rom-com genre in the early 21st century, and it’s finally coming back. According to an exclusive report from Variety, a How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days sequel is officially in the works, with Kate Hudson attached to produce. With development in its early stages and no filmmaker yet cast, whether Hudson or Matthew McConaughey will reprise their roles as magazine writer Andie and ladies’ man Benjamin is unknown, although the plan is apparently for the film to star the pair once again.
