‘Honeymoon/Funeral’: Rebecca Ferguson & Greta Lee to Star in New Rom-Com!!

Rebecca Ferguson has reigned over the realm of science fiction in recent years, with a prominent role as Lady Jessica in Denis Villeneuve‘s Dune films and the lead role of engineer Juliette Nichols in Apple TV‘s mind-bending post-apocalyptic series Silo, which concludes its fourth season this week. Although she’s set for a third trip to Arrakis this winter (albeit a brief one), she’s now headed for a more grounded kind of project.

Meanwhile, Greta Lee has been on a science fiction streak herself. Last year, she co-starred with Jared Leto in the latest installment of the computerized sci-fi franchise Tron; in Tron: Ares, she played a tech executive who gets drawn into the virtual world of the Grid. She can currently be seen alongside Wagner Moura in the Netflix sci-fi horror hit The Last House; the duo play a couple who find themselves trapped in their house with their two young children for years while strange creatures roam the world outside. Plus, she played a sinister computer tablet in this summer’s Pixar blockbuster Toy Story 5.

As reported by Deadline, Ferguson and Lee will come together to headline a new project outside the realm of the futuristic: a romantic comedy. In Honeymoon/Funeral, they’ll play a pair of women who meet by chance on a plane from Los Angeles to London. One is headed on her unexpectedly solo honeymoon after being dumped by her girlfriend at the altar, while the other is travelling home for her mother’s funeral. They end up spending the week together, as romance blooms. This won’t be the first collaboration between the two actors; they recently starred together in the Kathryn Bigelow political thriller A House of Dynamite. The film does not yet have a release date, but it is currently filming in London.

Who Are the Creatives Behind ‘Honeymoon/Funeral’?

Honeymoon/Funeral will be directed by Nahnatchka Khan; the creator of the TV series Don’t Trust the B—- in Apartment 23 and Fresh Off the Boat, she also directed the films Always Be My Maybe and Totally Killer. The script is by Julia Bicknell, in her feature screenwriting debut; she has previously penned episodes of 13 Reasons Why, The Haunting of Bly Manor, and Yellowjackets. Khan and Bicknell will also produce alongside Jennifer Carreras.
