Meryl Streep, Bill Hader and other actors have reportedly joined the cast of a brand new Tom Hanks movie. The animated and live-action project centers around the late former American President Abraham Lincoln.
According to a report from The Hollywood Reporter, Meryl Streep, Bill Hader, Colman Domingo, and Tom Waits are now part of the A-list cast for Lincoln in the Bardo. The report further updates that Streep will have four different roles in the animated part. She will be voicing a Demon luring Willie Lincoln inside the cemetery, an angel who helps wandering souls get out of the Bardo, Elizabeth Crawford, and Abigail Blass. Hader will be voicing one of the Three Rakes as well as Eddie Baron. Lastly, Domingo and Waits will voice Thomas Havens and Jaspar Randall, respectively.
Hanks will be starring as the late U.S. President in the live-action part of the movie. Joining him as voice characters in the animated part of the feature will be Jonathan Bailey, Peter Dinklage, and Willem Dafoe as Roger Bevins, Hans Vollman, and Rev Everly Thomas, respectively.

Lincoln in the Bardo is adapted from George Saunders’ bestselling novel of the same title. Saunders himself is the scriptwriter for the upcoming drama film. The narrative delves into the life of 16th U.S. President Abraham Lincoln and the demise of his 11-year-old son, Willie Lincoln. The story explores the father’s grief and emotional turmoil after losing his son.
The synopsis of the Tom Hanks-led Lincoln in the Bardo, per The Hollywood Reporter, reads, “The film employs a unique blend of stop-motion animation and live action to explore one of the most intimate moments of Lincoln’s life, centering on his relationship with his recently deceased eleven-year-old son.”
The synopsis further continues, “Blending history and imagination, the story unfolds through an unforgettable ensemble of characters — living and dead, historical and invented — to explore themes of love, empathy, and the human capacity for connection in the face of unimaginable grief.”
Director Duke Johnson is also producing the film alongside Devon Young Rabinowitz, Paul Young, Gary Goetzman, and Tom Hanks. Aaron Mitchell, George Saunders, and Steve Shareshian are executive producing the project.
