An 83-year-old screenwriter has been entrusted with directing responsibilities for the remake of an acclaimed horror movie. The writer has previously worked on DC’s Aquaman.
According to an exclusive report from Variety, David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick will direct the remake of Vincent Must Die. He is also contributing as a writer for the project. Some of his notable credits include The Conjuring 3, Orphan: First Kill, The Conjuring: Last Rites, Insidious: Out of the Further, Red Riding Hood, and more.
Elated at getting an opportunity to work on the feature, Johnson-McGoldrick said, “I’m so grateful to my collaborators at AR Content, Vertigo and Atomic Monster for bringing me this opportunity and trusting in my vision. I immediately fell in love with the film, and so having a chance to step into this crazy world they created is a dream come true.”
Vincent Must Die premiered at the Cannes Film Festival back in 2023. Originally directed by Stéphan Castang, the French Belgian movie received significant attention. The remake will be produced by Alexander Rodnyansky (AR Content), Roy Lee (Vertigo Entertainment), and Michael Clear (Blumhouse Atomic Monster). Stuart Manashil and Michael Kupisk will serve as the executive producers.

The narrative of the 2023 satirical horror thriller film revolves around a graphic designer who suddenly finds that random strangers and coworkers are brutally attacking him the moment he makes eye contact with them.
The synopsis of Vincent Must Die, per IMDb, reads, “It follows Vincent, who finds himself under attack for no apparent reason overnight. When the phenomenon intensifies, he must run and change his way of life completely.”
Starring Karim Leklou in the titular role, the film received a 93% rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes. The cast for the Castang-directed movie features François Chattot, Vimala Pons, Jean-Rémi Chaize, Ulysse Genevrey, Karoline Rose Sun, Emmanuel Vérité, Sébastien Chabane, Benoît Lambert, Léna Dia, and others.
