2026 has been a stellar year for Taylor Sheridan so far, who has expanded the Yellowstone universe via his producing efforts on shows like Marshals and Dutton Ranch. Sheridan fans also have the next season of Tulsa King to be excited about, along with the fifth and final season of Mayor of Kingstown coming soon to Paramount+. Another Sheridan-written and produced series that’s exploded to massive levels of fame in the last few years is Landman, the hit oil drama starring Billy Bob Thornton and Ali Larter. The first season of Landman debuted back at the end of 2024, and the show returned for Season 2 only one year later. Unfortunately, Landman fans will have to wait until 2027 for the third season of the show, as production was delayed, resulting in the show’s return being pushed back.
Plot details about Landman Season 3 are being kept under wraps right now, but Paramount shared a massive update on the future of the show this afternoon. Paramount has confirmed that Michael Kelly, who also plays Byron Westfield in another popular Taylor Sheridan series, Lioness, will officially star in the third season of Landman. Kelly’s character, William Crockett, is described as the leader of the largest oil management firm in the world. He is a titan of industry and everything about him exudes efficiency and money. Kelly’s role will also be a series regular, meaning fans can expect to see him in every episode. He will seemingly fill the gap left behind by Jon Hamm‘s Monty Miller, who died at the end of Season 1.
‘Landman’ Is Making a Big Change in Season 3
Landman Season 3 is doing things a little differently, after Tommy left M-Tex Oil behind to start his own oil company with his son and father, along with a few others. Landman star Billy Bob Thornton is also among the few stars not getting a raise heading into Season 3 — news broke earlier in the summer that all of his Landman cohorts are getting pay bumps in the third season. The only reason Thornton isn’t up for a raise is that he’s on a three-season deal for Landman. Should the show be renewed for Season 4, he will likely be up for a big-time pay raise.
