Maika Monroe‘s horror sequel They Follow finally gets a much-awaited update. This comes after It Follows grew a huge following on streaming after its 2014 release. More than a decade later, the sequel has a positive update for fans.
As shared in a new Instagram post from @curiousgremlin, the sequel’s filming has wrapped. This comes after the principal photography of They Follow had reportedly begun in July this year.
No details or images of the production were shared, sparking even more speculation from fans worldwide after being teased for years.

They Follow’s specific details about the plot remain strictly under wraps. What is known, though, is that Monroe returns as Jay Height in the upcoming psychological horror sequel, which is set a decade after the events of the original film from 2014.
While Neon is producing and distributing the film domestically, writer-director David Robert Mitchell is back, alongside returning key crew members, including cinematographer Mike Gioulakis, editor Julio C. Perez IV, and composer Disasterpeace.
The new cast for this film includes Naomi Ackie, Jackie Earle Haley, Michael Gandolfini, Anna Mirodin, Jayne Taini, Tom Pecinka, Melora Walters, Ben Krieger, Natalie Shinnick, Jan Hoag, and Justine Lupe. Meanwhile, Keir Gilchrist is set to reprise his role as Paul from the first movie.
As Monroe described on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, the script of this sequel will be bigger, darker, and more intense. With the narrative featuring a 10-year time jump, this film is expected to center on a more grounded approach, focusing on characters dealing with heavy mental struggles rather than stylized horror.
