Best known for his role in Taylor Sheridan’s Yellowstone spin-off, 1923, Brandon Sklenar is carving himself out a spot as one of the brightest up-and-coming stars in Hollywood. Sklenar is even reuniting with Sheridan for his first original action movie in years, F.A.S.T., which is coming to theaters in 2027. Sklenar co-stars in the film along with Jason Clarke, LaKeith Stanfield, and even Sam Claflin. Sklenar also teamed up with Sydney Sweeney for one of the most successful movies of 2025, The Housemaid, which hit theaters at the end of last year. The Housemaid came into theaters carrying a modest $35 million budget, but the film grossed over $400 million at the global box office, making it the biggest hit of Sklenar and Sweeney’s career to date.

Before he starred in 1923, Sklenar also made a name for himself in other projects like Westworld, Vice, Midway, and even The Offer, but it’s his role in the Sheridan-verse that helped expand his stardom to new levels. Sklenar is officially returning to Westerns in 2027 with the premiere of The Rescue, which follows a rodeo cowboy and his dog as they search for his missing daughter. The first image from the film was released this afternoon, showing Sklenar returning to his dusty Western roots. Arriving in theaters on January 29, 2027, the film also stars Josh Duhamel, who recently led both seasons of Netflix’s Yellowstone replacement, Ransom Canyon, which has officially been canceled. Tim Blake Nelson has also been tapped to star in a key role in The Rescue, as well as Hassie Harrison. John Fusco wrote the script for The Rescue and Potsy Ponciroli directed the film — Ponciroli recently directed the Alan Ritchson-led blockbuster, Motor City.

Could Brandon Sklenar Be the Next Batman?

Brandon Sklenar has been quite open about his push to play the next Batman, and many fans have agreed that he would be the perfect person to suit up as Bruce Wayne in James Gunn’s DCU. Batman has been referenced several times in the DCU, including recently in the HBO series, Lanterns, but there has been no announcement that the role has been cast yet. Other names fans have put in contention to play The Dark Knight are Alan Ritchson and Jensen Ackles, but James Gunn will likely deliver a shocking announcement with a name no one is expecting.
