‘Battlefield’: Sony in Talks to Acquire Michael B Jordan & Christopher McQuarrie’s Video Game Adaptation!!

Michael B. Jordan may not have been a household name 10 years ago, but he most certainly is now after starring in some of the biggest movies of the 2020s. The first that comes to mind is also his most recent, Sinners, the vampire horror sensation from writer/director Ryan Coogler that hit the screen in 2025. Jordan won his first Oscar for his dual performance as Smoke and Stack in the film, and by the time he’s ready to call it quits on his acting career, most fans agree that it would be surprising if that’s his only win. Jordan has also starred in some other huge projects in the last few years, including both Black Panther and its sequel, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. No word yet on if Jordan will star in the third Black Panther movie releasing in 2028.

Michael B. Jordan has several exciting projects on the slate, not least of which is a Miami Vice reboot co-starring Austin Butler that’s coming to theaters in 2028. Before Miami Vice cruises into theaters, though, Jordan is also set to star in a remake of The Thomas Crown Affair, the epic heist thriller launching in March. He’s also attached to produce a new Battlefield movie that was announced earlier this year, with Mission: Impossible director Christopher McQuarrie in line to produce and direct from a script he wrote. Jordan is expected to star in the film and produce, but this has yet to be officially confirmed. This afternoon, however, news broke that Jordan and McQuarrie’s Battlefield movie could finally be about to acquire distribution. Sony is officially circling the project and expected to land the rights to the film.

‘Battlefield’ and ‘Call of Duty’ Are Facing Off Again

The Battlefield movie was announced within the same year that Paramount confirmed it was developing a Call of Duty movie. Better yet, Paramount has enlisted Taylor Sheridan, creator of Yellowstone and writer of Sicario, to pen the script for its Call of Duty movie. The film is currently scheduled to be released in theaters on June 30, 2028, and while the Battlefield movie has not set a release date, it’s not out of the realm for it to be released in the same year. Peter Berg is directing Taylor Sheridan’s Call of Duty movie.
