The fate of Oscar-winning filmmaker Sean Baker‘s next film has been revealed after the Paramount–Warner Bros. Discovery merger. The multimillion-dollar deal raised questions about what will happen to several Warner Bros. projects in development.
The path for Baker’s follow-up movie to Anora seems clear. According to Deadline, his next movie will move forward as planned despite the Paramount-WB merger. Ti Amo! is under Warner Bros.’ new contemporary film label, Clockwork, which will transition smoothly to the newly merged company, Skydance.
The dark comedy movie’s plot has not been disclosed yet; however, it is described as a “love letter to the Italian sex comedies of the ’60s and ’70s.” Baker also wrote, edited, and produced the movie. It is the first project Clockwork announced when Warner Bros. launched the label earlier this year.
What else is Clockwork planning to release besides Sean Baker’s new movie?
Beyond Sean Baker’s upcoming movie, Clockwork plans to release several other projects after joining Skydance.
For instance, one project on their list is Park Chan-wook’s Western, The Brigands of Rattlecreek. The Cannes market picked up Chan-wook’s movie for a reported mid-teens million-dollar deal. It stars Matthew McConaughey, Austin Butler, Pedro Pascal, and Tang Wei.
Another project in their lineup is Sean Penn’s movie about the January 6 Capitol riots. Although the plot and cast details are under wraps, reports say the feature will be based on a real-life police officer who was present during the riot.
Lastly, the upcoming thriller Nasty, helmed by Mary Bronstein, will also be released under Skydance’s Clockwork. Nasty will feature Jenna Ortega and Rose Byrne. The movie will follow a competitive gymnastics sports-thriller plot. It will be produced by LuckyChap. This project is actively in development.
