The iconic red swimsuits are officially back on the beach, and the next generation of lifeguards is ready for action.

The official trailer for the highly anticipated Baywatch television reboot has officially dropped, giving fans a comprehensive look at Stephen Amell taking over the franchise. Originally slated for a 2026 debut, the series has been pushed to a January 2027 premiere on Fox, arriving roughly a decade after the 2017 feature film adaptation.

The show follows Amell as a grown-up Hobie Buchannon serving as the Baywatch captain after following in the footsteps of his father, Mitch. The show focuses on Buchannon dealing with a surprise visit from his biological daughter, played by Jessica Belkin.

What happens in the Baywatch trailer?

The Baywatch trailer starts by introducing its core cast, all of them adorned in the signature red swimwear the franchise is known for.

Belkin’s character, Summer, arrives on the beach looking for Hobie Buchannon, who is shown jumping into the water to save people when an airplane crashes into it. As Summer introduces herself to Hobie, he is faced with the dilemma of allowing his daughter to become a Baywatch lifeguard.

The trailer also shows a brief glimpse of a hall of fame board, which includes original Baywatch hero Mitch Buchannon’s name. Mitch’s inclusion draws a direct connection between the new show and its original counterpart.

Summer, along with the rest of the Baywatch crew, is also shown getting romantically involved with the others on the job. The trailer ends with a montage teasing various dangerous stunts on the beach, which result in explosions.

Alongside Amell and Belkin, the ensemble cast features Noah Beck, Shay Mitchell, Livvy Dunne, Thaddeus LaGrone, Hassie Harrison, and Brooks Nader. Original series favorites Erika Eleniak and David Chokachi are also confirmed to return for guest-star appearances.

The series was created, showrun and executive produced by Burn Notice creator Matt Nix. He is joined by original Baywatch creators Michael Berk, Greg Bonann, and Doug Schwartz, alongside executive producers Dante Di Loreto, McG and Mike Horowitz.

Baywatch is set to premiere on Fox in January 2027.
