Surviving the wilderness has always been only half the nightmare on Yellowjackets. The adult timeline makes that clear whenever the women try to keep their past from destroying the lives they’ve built. Whatever happened between the crash and their rescue followed them home, and keeping it buried has come with its own body count.

That has left the series with a difficult gap to fill before it ends. Viewers have watched the teenagers become capable of things their earlier selves would never have imagined, while their adult counterparts live with the consequences. Rescue offers a way out of the woods, but it can’t undo what they did there. Returning to their families also means returning to people who have no idea what survival required of them.

Paramount+ has released the official trailer for the fourth and final season of Yellowjackets, which premieres Friday, November 20. The teaser centers on the survivors finally coming home and the price they paid to make it back alive. It brings the series to a turning point audiences have known was coming since the beginning, with one season left to connect the girls who escaped to the women they became.

‘Yellowjackets’ Season 4 Explores What Happens After the Rescue

The homecoming gives the final season another kind of horror to work with. In the wilderness, the survivors developed their own rules and found ways to justify what they were doing. Back home, those explanations have to survive contact with the world they left behind. The adult storyline has already shown how badly that adjustment can go, even decades after the immediate danger has passed. The cast returning for the final chapter includes Melanie Lynskey, Christina Ricci, Tawny Cypress, Sophie Nélisse, Jasmin Savoy Brown, and Sophie Thatcher. Hilary Swank also stars, alongside returning ensemble members including Samantha Hanratty, Courtney Eaton, and Liv Hewson. The announced guest cast includes Elijah Wood, June Squibb, Molly Ringwald, and Devon Sawa, with Dulé Hill and Sam Braun also appearing.

Creators Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson remain the showrunners for the final season, which Lionsgate Television produces for Showtime. Previous seasons are available on Paramount+ with the Premium Plan for anyone catching up before the last chapter.

Yellowjackets Season 4 premieres November 20.
