Zendaya isn’t done with science fiction just yet. The actress landed another sci-fi project following her work on the Dune franchise.
The 30-year-old actress is set to star in an untitled sci-fi film for A24, written and directed by Alex Garland. Additional cast information and plot details remain under wraps for now. The project will reportedly begin filming in 2027.
The project adds another sci-fi title to Zendaya’s filmography, which includes Denis Villeneuve’s Dune films. The actress will return as Chani for one last time in the upcoming finale, Dune: Part Three.
Garland has directed several acclaimed sci-fi projects, including Annihilation and the television series Devs. He wrote 28 Days Later and 28 Years Later, as well as the franchise’s next installment, 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple.
Additionally, Garland’s upcoming Zendaya-led project continues his long-running collaboration with A24. His previous films with the production house include Ex Machina, Men, Civil War, and Warfare. Garland is also directing A24’s upcoming epic dark fantasy film, Elden Ring, based on the video game of the same name.
Zendaya’s new sci-fi film continues her growing partnership with A24
Zendaya has already worked on several notable projects associated with A24. Most recently, she starred opposite Robert Pattinson in A24’s dark romantic comedy The Drama, written and directed by Kristoffer Borgli. A24 has also produced HBO’s Euphoria, where the 30-year-old actress gave an outstanding performance as Rue.
The Oakland-born star has been pretty busy this year. Alongside A24’s The Drama, she also appeared in The Odyssey and Spider-Man: Brand New Day. The 30-year-old actress will close out the year with Dune: Part Three, which arrives in theaters on December 18.
Zendaya is also set to voice Felicia in Shrek 5, the highly anticipated sequel to Shrek Forever After.
