‘Alien’: Ridley Scott Reunites With ‘Raised by Wolves’ Creator for New Installment!!

Ridley Scott is back in the Alien business. The prolific British director helped usher the long-running science fiction franchise into being by helming its first entry in 1979, and now, after two other entries in the series, he’s making another. That project just took a big step forward with the announcement of a writer who’s worked hand-in-hand with Scott in the past.

Alien was Scott‘s second directorial feature; made for a paltry budget, the tale of a rapacious predator stalking the crew of a starship became a touchstone in both horror and science fiction, and spawned many sequels, spin-offs, and tie-ins. Scott did not retain any ownership of the franchise, which he now regrets, and did not return to it until 2012’s Prometheus, which explored the origins of the iconic Xenomorphs. He then followed that up with a 2017 sequel, Alien: Covenant, which has the structure of a more conventional Alien sequel but followed up on the plot lines of the earlier film. Scott also produced the FX TV series Alien: Earth, which premiered last year and has a second season in production.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Scott‘s new Alien movie now has a writer attached. Aaron Guzikowski, who previously collaborated with Scott on the science fiction TV series Raised by Wolves, will pen a new entry in the franchise for the director; however, at the moment Scott is only attached to executive produce the film, and not to helm it. The film is reportedly not the sequel to 2024’s Alien: Romulus (which remains in development), but a sequel to Scott‘s two more recent alien films, Prometheus and Alien: Covenant. The main connective tissue between those two films, and reportedly the third, is the diabolical android David (Michael Fassbender); Fassbender is not yet attached to the new project.

What Else Has Aaron Guzikowski Worked On?

Guzikowski‘s best-known script may be Prisoners, a dark crime drama that served as Denis Villeneuve‘s English-language debut. He also created the TV series The Red Road, and penned the scripts for Contraband, a Mark Wahlberg thriller, and Papillon, a remake of the classic prison drama. He’s currently working on a Death Stranding animated feature, adapting the acclaimed Hideo Kojima video game.

Ridley Scott‘s new Alien film is in development; no release date has yet been announced.
