‘Polka-Dot Man’ Series Teases By James Gunn!!

James Gunn has shared an update about one of the most unusual characters in his DC films. The filmmaker is exploring a new project related to The Suicide Squad, focusing on aspects of the story that fans have not yet seen.

While discussing the Polka-Dot Man during The Suicide Squad: Is It Canon? — The Official Podcast, he said, “I decided to make him the darkest and saddest character in this entire movie. And, in fact, interestingly enough, [I] have talked about developing a Krill TV show which would be about his mother and their many [superpowered] children.”

Gunn noted that he had discussed bringing the character back. He highlighted, “It’s not in active development, but we’ve talked about it because I think it would be interesting to see what happened to the rest of his family. Where did they go, and what were they like back then?”

The potential series would focus on Abner Krill, better known as Polka-Dot Man, whose tragic backstory made him one of The Suicide Squad’s most memorable characters.

What happened to Polka-Dot Man in The Suicide Squad?

In the film, Krill’s mother was a scientist at S.T.A.R. Labs who experimented on her children with an interdimensional virus in an attempt to turn them into superheroes. Krill survived the experiments, developing polka dots on his body that he could launch from his gauntlets as weapons. The abuse he endured left him deeply traumatized, causing him to see his mother in other people.

David Dastmalchian, the actor who portrayed Krill, has expressed interest in returning as the character. He has also discussed the possibility of exploring Krill’s origins and his troubled relationship with his family.

Gunn confirmed that The Suicide Squad is part of the DC Universe, calling it the franchise’s first canon film. He revealed that he and his collaborators discussed a television series about Krill’s family, but there is one major catch. The project is not in active development, which means there is no confirmation that the show will move forward.
