For anyone who watched the Percy Jackson movies and waited for a third installment that never came, getting to The Titan’s Curse feels like unfinished business. Rick Riordan’s third novel is where we meet Nico and Bianca di Angelo, spend more time with Thalia, and discover just how much trouble Percy can get into when Annabeth isn’t around to talk him through a plan. There’s a reason readers have been so eager for the Disney+ adaptation to reach this point, and now, it’s almost finally here.
The book also puts some distance between Percy and the familiar comfort of his trio with Annabeth and Grover. New questmates bring their own loyalties and plenty of friction, while the growing threat of Kronos makes each encounter feel closer to the war everyone fears is coming. For Walker Scobell’s Percy, though, saving Annabeth is enough reason to get involved, regardless of whether anyone actually invited him.
Disney+ has released the official trailer for Season 3 of Percy Jackson and the Olympians, which premieres with two episodes November 20 on Disney+ and Hulu. Two episodes will arrive each week after that. The new season adapts The Titan’s Curse, following Percy as he sets out to rescue Annabeth after she is captured by the forces of Kronos. Saving Annabeth is already enough to get Percy moving, but the quest comes with considerably more baggage. A goddess needs freeing, a prophecy carries dire consequences, and the fall of Olympus is a possibility everyone would presumably prefer to avoid. Grover joins Percy alongside some unlikely companions, as the threat of Kronos continues to grow.
What Happens in ‘The Titan’s Curse’?
Percy’s next quest begins with a trip to find two young demigods, Nico and Bianca di Angelo, but the rescue quickly goes wrong. Annabeth disappears, Artemis goes missing, and the arrival of the goddess’ Hunters brings a new set of allies who aren’t especially interested in Percy’s help. Naturally, being left out of the official quest does very little to keep him from joining it. The search takes Percy and his companions across the country as they try to find Annabeth and Artemis before the winter solstice. Thalia, a fellow child of the Big Three, becomes a much bigger part of the story, putting Percy alongside someone who can match his stubbornness and has her own complicated history with Luke. With Kronos gathering support, their disagreements carry consequences beyond who gets to lead the group.
For readers, The Titan’s Curse also introduces characters and decisions that shape the rest of the series. Nico and Bianca’s arrival is a huge part of that, though newcomers should get to discover why for themselves. Between the Hunters, the prophecy, and the increasingly personal cost of fighting the Titans, there’s plenty here to fill a season without giving away its biggest surprises.
