‘Escape from Jurassic Park’ Trailer Previews the Cancelled Animated ‘Jurassic Park’ Follow-Up Series!! Check It Out!!

A newly discovered trailer has revived interest in a canceled Jurassic Park series. The animated project was originally developed as a continuation of Steven Spielberg‘s 1993 film.

Titled Escape from Jurassic Park, the TV series was in development at Universal Cartoon Studios in 1993. A pitch trailer was created during development, and X user ChrisLikesDinos recently shared the footage online. “At long last, that trailer has been unearthed,” Pugh wrote in the caption.

Although the project never entered full production, the footage offers a glimpse of the work completed before its cancellation. The trailer features familiar characters from the original film alongside dinosaurs and animation designs developed for the series.

The series had already developed an extensive story before its plans fell apart

Before cancellation, the creative team developed a complete story treatment for the entire first season. According to Jurassic Outpost’s 2016 report, the plot involved Lewis Dodgson and a BioSyn team stealing dinosaur eggs to build a rival theme park in the Amazon called DinoWorld. Meanwhile, escaped dinosaurs began appearing on the South American mainland, forcing a massive government cover-up.

The series was set to introduce new dinosaur species and story ideas that later appeared in Michael Crichton’s 1995 novel The Lost World. Concept artist William Stout created extensive artwork for the project, featuring new human characters and dinosaurs, also shown in the trailer. Kenner also planned a tie-in toy line, which included the Dino Wranglers and prehistoric creatures such as the Lycaenops.

The first season reportedly ended with Jurassic Park finally opening to the public. Grant, Malcolm, and Sattler opposed the decision, setting up potential conflicts for another season. However, the story and the project were shelved in 1994 before it moved any further.

The franchise has since expanded to seven theatrical films, and overall it grossed $6.89 billion globally. A new movie is scheduled to arrive on June 9, 2028.
