Noah Hawley‘s adaptation of the Legion comics for FX (which feels very far from any other comic book adaptations on TV these days) was one of the most visually astonishing series of 2017. Disney has quite often had an aversion to making anything in their films overtly political, or presenting something in a way that could incite controversy. That doesn’t mean that controversy doesn’t arise anyway, but by and large throughout Disney’s 90s heyday they offered a very squeaky clean slate. However, while the studio’s films have always offered up heterosexual relationships, those actually making the films have been … Continue reading ‘Beauty and the Beast’: Josh Gad’s Le Fou Will Be Disney’s First-Ever Gay Character!! There have been many questions about FX’s upcoming series Legion, which is an X-Men TV series from Fargo creator/showrunner Noah Hawley—except that it’s also kind of not. As opposed to Marvel’s Netflix shows, which very explicitly take place within the MCU and carry a similar tone and aesthetic, Legion is a wholly separate thing that was borne out of pure creativity from Hawley. He hatched the … Continue reading ‘Legion’ Will Not Take Place in the ‘X-Men’ Cinematic Universe!!!

While skepticism was more than warranted when Disney began announcing a slew of live-action remakes of its animated classics, the studio’s track record thus far is cause for optimism. Kenneth Branagh’s Cinderella was a lush, delightful riff on the fairy tale; Jon Favreau’s The Jungle Book was jaw-droppingly realistic; and Pete’s Dragon is perhaps the most earnest, least cynical film of the year. So when it comes to 2017’s Beauty and the Beast—no doubt … Continue reading ‘Beauty and the Beast’: Belle Has a New Backstory in Disney’s Live-Action Remake!!

There’s no shortage of superhero entertainment these days, especially on TV, but if there’s one newcomer I’m truly excited about, it’s Noah Hawley‘s mutant mind-bender, Legion. The far-out looking X-Men semi-spinoff comes from the visionary creator of the FX series Fargo, and centers on the mutant David Haller, a tremendously powerful mutant who’s also might just be completely crazy. Hawley seems to be leaning into all the visual and … Continue reading ‘Legion’: FX Confirms Early 2017 Release Date with a Crazy Awesome New Teaser!! Check It Out!!
Back in June, Legion showrunner Noah Hawley (who also helms FX’s Fargo series) commented that his series — which focuses on the son of Charles Xavier, David Haller, who has extraordinary abilities he has trouble controlling — would not necessarily connect to the larger X-Men universe. At the … Continue reading Bryan Singer Says ‘Legion’ Will Connect to the ‘X-Men’ Movies After All!!
