Are You Here (2014) Review!!

are-you-here-movie-title-logoSynopsis- Two childhood best friends embark on a road trip back to their hometown after one of them learns he has inherited a large sum of money from his recently deceased estranged father.

My Take – This film has two of the best comic actors as leads but instead of using them for their potentials, it gives us a long boring confused speech about how to live your life. It started out as a typical ‘Zach stoned out of his mind funny’ type of thing, and turned into it trying to teach me something about mental illness, but doing it in the poorest way possible.

Matthew Weiner despite failing to make a point with this movie does bring out some exceptional performances from his cast. Zach Galifianakis starts of in a similar zone of the Hangover series, but in the second half develops into a more complex character making him very likeable. Naomi Lavette is pretty & almost steals ever scene she is present in. Amy Poehler is awesome , but unfortunately given a back seat.

Are You Here is clearly Owen Wilson’s show all the way! He has the best scenes & funniest dialogues. Clearly in his top form! Overall, not really worth the two hours unless you have nothing better to watch. Or if you absolutely love Zach Galifianakis or Owen Wilson, and are dedicated to watching everything they put out. Fail!
