Synopsis – Some of Sin City’s most hard-boiled citizens cross paths with a few of its more reviled inhabitants.
My Take – Sin City (2005) was one of the best comic book turned films ever made!! The disturbing use of imagery, the plot lines, the stellar cast & the dark humor nailed it!! Sadly the sequel fails in every of those departments. In fact, it is so far from the original it’s disturbing. Among the cast Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Christopher Lloyd, Jeremy Priven, Rosario Dawson are on screen for such a short period of time it’s a waste.
Meanwhile, the bulk of the film revolves around the very predictable storyline of John Brolin (who doesn’t have the charisma to carry the film) & Eva Green (who plays a very similar role to the one in another Frank miller sequel 300: Rise Of An Empire), its just sad & boring. & why is Bruce Willis is in this?? Jessica Alba has little to do except grunt & dance (which was pretty amazing). Mickey Rourke was my favorite character in the original, while here he is still fun, but is a pointless part of every plot. Powers Boothe is the only one worth talking about.
Their are a whole lot of other cameos as well, some new actors in previous roles or something like that. The worse thing about this sequel is that it seems confused about being a prequel or a sequel & the only lasting memory the filmmakers want you to have, is of Eva Green completely nude. Nine long years in the awaiting, Sin City : A Dame to Kill can be only viewed (only once) by people who are interested in Frank Miller’s works, while the rest would moan in pain!
