For those of you out there who count Gwendoline Christie‘s Captain Phasma among the biggest missed opportunities in the new Star Wars movies, you’re about to either be very happy or very, very upset. (Try to maintain a balance between the warring sides of the Force.) In a new deleted scene from Star Wars: The Last Jedi, a very different fate for the shiny-suited Imperial officer has been revealed.
On one hand, I can see why this scene was cut: It’s a little clunky, poorly paced, and doesn’t really jibe with the flow of this particular sequence, though all of that could have been fixed in the edit if Rian Johnson chose to do so. On the other hand, it would have been nice to see a little more flair in Phasma’s final moments. On the other hand … oh wait, I’m all out of hands.
