
In the recent past, director Anurag Basu has been seen directing comedy dramas but in his initial days, he used to known for making films tackling the themes of passion and adultery. In the mid-2000’s Basu has given us films like Kites, Murder, Gangster and cult classic, Life In A Metro. The latter, which came out in 2007 and dealt with topics like extramarital affairs, the sanctity of marriage, and love, won multiple Filmfare awards. And now after 11 years, reports have it that film might have its sequel.
According to a source, “The film has been titled Crime In A Metro. The story idea is basically exploring the dark side of the city of Mumbai. The film looks at several people who come to Mumbai, live here, and how they get entangled in the world of crime,” says a source.
The original film had an ensemble star cast which includes, Dharmendra, Nafisa Ali, Shilpa Shetty, Kay Kay Menon, Shiney Ahuja, Irrfan Khan, Konkona Sen Sharma, Kangana Ranaut, and Sharman Joshi. The beauty of the film was each character was connected but they were still distanced from one other because of the fast-paced life in a metro city like Mumbai.
