Netflix has cast Aml Ameen (Sense8, Yardie) as the lead in a direct-to-streaming sequel to Spike Lee’s 2006 film Inside Man, which starred Denzel Washington, Clive Owen and Jodie Foster.
The sequel is being directed by MJ Bassett (Ash vs. Evil Dead, Iron Fist) from a script by Brian Brightly (Home Run, Man Camp), and the official logline reads:
The U.S. Federal Reserve is robbed by a highly organized and cleverly orchestrated team of crooks. With dozens of tourists held hostage during a 10-hour siege, an NYPD hostage negotiator (Ameen) and a federal agent join forces to rescue the hostages and foil the heist.
Inside Man 2 is being produced by Universal 1440 Entertainment and Imagine Entertainment, and will be released on Netflix as a license title, as well as other digital platforms.
