‘The Witcher’ Season 2 Casts Kim Bodnia as Vesemir!!

“The Witcher” has found its Vesemir.

“Killing Eve” alum Kim Bodnia has been cast in the role, one with a very important connection to Henry Cavill’s Geralt of Rivia, for the Netflix fantasy’s upcoming second season, the streaming service announced Friday.

“A charming relic of the witcher Golden Age, Vesemir is the oldest and most experienced witcher in our series, as well as a father figure to Geralt,” Netflix said in a statement. “As one of the survivors of The Massacre at Kaer Morhen, a haunting slaughter that nearly exterminated the Witchers, he is fiercely protective of the remaining few, who he sees as an endangered community who can find glory on ‘the Path’ slaying monsters.”

“I am so thrilled to welcome Kim Bodnia to the cast of ‘The Witcher,’” showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich said in a statement. “I have admired his unique talents in shows like Killing Eve and The Bridge, and cannot wait for him to bring strength, tenacity, and warmth to the character of Vesemir, who is such an integral part of our upcoming season.”

As TheWrap previously reported, other new cast members for “The Witcher” Season 2, which is currently in production and set to launch in 2021, include “Game of Thrones” alum Kristofer Hivju as Nivellen, Yasen Atour (“Young Wallender”) as Coen, Agnes Bjorn as Vereena, Paul Bullion (“Peaky Blinders”) as Lambert, Thue Ersted Rasmussen (“Fast and Furious 9”) as Eskel, Aisha Fabienne Ross (“The Danish Girl”) as Lydia and Mecia Simson as Francesca.

Leads Cavill, Chalotra and Freya Allan, who plays Princess Ciri, will all return for Season 2. Joey Batey will also be back in his role as Geralt’s minstrel BFF, Jaskier.

Other returning cast members for the second installment include MyAnna Buring as Tissaia, Tom Canton as Filavandrel, Lilly Cooper as Murta, Jeremy Crawford as Yarpin Zigrin, Eamon Farren as Cahir, Mahesh Jadu as Vilgefortz, Terence Maynard as Artorius, Lars Mikkelson as Stregobor, Mimi Ndiweni as Fringilla Vigo, Royce Pierrseson as Istredd, Wilson Radjou-Pujalte as Dara, Anna Shaffer as Triss Merigold and Therica Wilson Read as Sabrina.

“The Witcher” received an early Season 2 renewal in November, a month before its series debut on Dec. 20. In January, Netflix said the show was watched by 76 million households in its first month, making it the biggest first season debut in the service’s history, according to its new method of counting a view.

Hissrich acts as showrunner and executive producer on the series. Other executive producers include Tomek Baginski, Jason F. Brown, Sean Daniel, Mike Ostrowski, Steve Gaub and Jarosław Sawko.

Season 2 will be directed by Stephen Surjik (“Umbrella Academy”), Sarah O’Gorman (“Cursed”), Ed Bazalgette (“The Last Kingdom”) and Geeta V. Patel (“Meet The Patels”).
