‘Watson’ Trailer Sees Morris Chestnut Solving Medical Mysteries!! Check It Out!!

CBS has a wealth of procedurals, ranging from law enforcement agencies to firefighting. The network has not had a proper medical drama since Good Sam, but the next one promises to be different. Watson is a medical procedural starring Morris Chestnut in the titular role. According to the show’s official description below, it features a connection to the famed detective Sherlock Holmes, with whom Watson was a friend and partner. CBS released the trailer, introducing the character and his collaborators and previewing some cases the series will tackle.

Watson takes place six months after the death of the titular character’s friend and partner Sherlock Holmes at the hands of Moriarty. The show stars Morris Chestnut as Dr. John Watson who resumes his medical career as the head of a clinic dedicated to treating rare disorders.

Watson’s old life isn’t done with him, though – Moriarty and Watson are set to write their own chapter of a story that has fascinated audiences for more than a century. Watson is a medical show with a strong investigative spine, featuring a modern version of one of history’s greatest detectives as he turns his attention from solving crimes to solving medical mysteries.

‘Watson’ is Not Your Regular Doctor in Season 1 Trailer.

The video above introduces Chestnut as Watson, and based on his voiceover narration, the character has an affinity for solving mysteries. The ties to Sherlock Holmes are evident, as Watson’s clinic is named after his friend. Watson is interested in the secrets hidden inside the human body, some of which are written before they are born. He also has four collaborators who help him solve the mysteries they encounter in the medical arena. All four are doctors, but Watson clarifies that he doesn’t need just doctors. His patients need detectives. Meanwhile, the clinic gets visits from patients with mysterious illnesses, and Watson promises to get to the bottom of their issues.

The trailer teases a focus on investigating as the team tries to find the cause of their patients’ illnesses. Watson also seems to be working on a personal project. “We eliminate the impossible, and whatever remains, however improbable, must be truth,” the team chants one of Holmes’ most popular slogans. Despite his brilliance, Watson carries some ghosts from his past, and the trailer reveals that he was present when Holmes died and failed to save him.

Watson also stars Eve Harlow as Ingrid Derian, Peter Mark Kendall in two roles as Dr. Stephens Croft and Dr. Adam Croft, Ritchie Coster as Shinwell Johnson, Inga Schlingmann as Sasha Lubbock, and Rochelle Aytes as Dr. Mary Morstan. The series premieres after the AFC Championship Game on Sunday, Jan. 26. It will move to its regular time period of 10 PM ET on Sunday, Feb. 16.
