Past Lives‘ Greta Lee and Civil War‘s Wagner Moura are set to star in a new science fiction thriller. 11817 will be directed by French action maven Louis Leterrier. Deadline reports that the film has been acquired by Netflix.
In 11817, Lee and Moura will play two members of a family of four who find themselves mysteriously trapped in their own house by some mysterious force, with no way to escape. Soon, they find themselves in a struggle both against their own dwindling resources, and against whatever sinister entity has trapped them inside, forcing them to work together to survive. In an exclusive scoop from Collider’s Steve Weintraub, the film will shoot in the next few months. Leterrier will helm the film; he has an extensive action resume that includes the first two Transporter films, The Incredible Hulk, Now You See Me, and Fast X. He is set to helm the eleventh (and possibly final) installment of the Fast and Furious franchise, as well.
Who Are Greta Lee and Wagner Moura?
A native of Los Angeles, Lee made her screen debut guest-starring on a 2006 episode of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. She had supporting roles on Russian Doll and The Morning Show, and starred in the films Sisters, Money Monster, and Problemista. She won critical acclaim for her lead role in Celine Song‘s Past Lives, earning a Golden Globe nomination but, controversially, no corresponding Oscar nod. She is slated to appear in Tron: Ares this year, and will star alongside Idris Elba and Rebecca Ferguson in Kathryn Bigelow‘s next as-yet untitled film. Brazilian actor Moura had a number of starring roles in his home country, including Candiru and Elite Squad, before making his English-language debut alongside Matt Damon in Neill Blomkamp‘s Elysium. Following that, he starred in the hit Netflix series Narcos as legendary cartel leader Pablo Escobar. Recently, he starred in The Gray Man and Civil War, and lent his voice to the animated hit Puss in Boots: The Last Wish. He can next be seen alongside Alicia Vikander in the drama The Last Day.
11817 was written by Matthew Robinson (Love and Monsters). It will be produced by Peter Chernin, Jenno Topping, and Kori Adelson for Chernin Entertainment, Oly Obst for 3 Arts Entertainment, and Leterrier. Thomas Benski, Cecile Gaget, Lars Sylvest and Thorsten Schumacher will executive produce.
11817 will shoot in the next few months; no release date has yet been announced.
