Of course, fans can expect nothing short of excellence in the upcoming comedy given Vaughn’s involvement. What is ‘Nonnas’ About?
Nonnas tells the story of Vaughn’s character, Joe, who, after losing his mom and grandmother, turns to their generations-old recipes for solace and direction. With the money from his mom’s insurance and a little help from his friends, he opens Enoteca Maria, an old-school Italian spot that staffs four grandmothers a.k.a. “nonnas,” from different cities in Italy, who share their dishes with the neighborhood. These four nonnas are Roberta (Bracco), Antonella (Vaccaro), Teresa (Shire), and Gia (Sarandon) who “are equally transformed by the restaurant, and the history and potential for rediscovery it presents.”
Other stars featured in the heartwarming film are Linda Cardellini as Olivia, whom Joe reconnects with at an Italian market years after standing her up at prom, and Joe Manganiello as Joe’s best friend Bruno, who like him has experienced the power of a meal cooked with love.
Nonnas will arrive on Netflix on May 9. In the meantime, do stay tuned to Collider for further news.
