
Outer Banks breakthrough star, Rudy Pankow is the latest addition to Universal’s upcoming adaptation of Colleen Goover’s novel, Reminders of Him. Pankow will star in the film alongside Maika Monroe (It Follows) and Tyriq Withers (Him) with Vanessa Caswill serving as the director. The screenplay has been written by Hoover and Lauren Levine based on the novel and explores themes of motherhood, forgiveness and the healing power of love.
Reminders of Him was published in 2022 and has sold more than 6 million copies in the U.S. The upcoming Universal flick joins the list of the author’s growing list of book-to-film adaptations which includes Verity, Regretting You and It Ends With Us, which was released in 2024. Hoover and Levine are also producing the film through their company, Heartbones Entertainment in collaboration with Gina Matthews’s Little Engine Productions.
Pankow is fresh off the success of his role as JJ in Netflix’s teen drama, Outer Banks which also stars Madelyn Cline, Drew Starkey and Chase Stokes among others. The show was renewed for its fifth and final season back in November 2024. However, Pankow will not be returning to Outer Banks since his character was killed off in the Season 4 finale. Pankow has previously starred as Romeo in the production of Romeo & Julier at The American Repertory Theater at Harvard University along with appearing in the 2022 film, Uncharted alongside Tom Holland and Mark Walhlberg.
Colleen Hoover’s ‘Verity’ Set To Release in May 2026
Amazon MGM Studios’ adaptation of Colleen Hoovers 2018 psychological thriller novel, Verity is set to hit theatres on May 15, 2026. The upcoming film stars Anne Hathaway, Dakota Johnson, Josh Hartnett, Ismael Cruz Cordóva and Brady Wagner in lead roles. The script is written by Nick Antosca while Hoover, Hillary Seitz, Angela LaManna and Will Honley and April Maguire wrote its prior drafts. Michael Showalter, who has worked with Hathaway on Prime Video’s The Idea of You is directing the upcoming film.
The story follows struggling writer Lowen Ashleigh (Johnson) who is hired as a ghostwriter for author Verity Crawford (Hathaway) after a mysterious accident leaves her in a coma. The film’s official logline reveals that Lowen’s assignment takes a dark turn when she finds Verity’s chilling autobiographical notes and realizes that things are not as they seem. The writer has to confront Verity’s deadly family secrets while also dealing with her growing attraction to Verity’s husband, Jeremy (Hartnett).
Sources have told Verity that the release date was selected to compete with big male-targeted movies coming out in May 2026 including The Mandalorian & Grogu and Avengers: Doomsday. Verity follows the success of the Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni starrer, It Ends With Us which grossed over $351 million worldwide.
The movie adaptation of Reminders of Him is slated for a Valentine’s Day weekend release on February 13, 2026.
